President and Chief Executive Officer

Steven Donald was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Assante Wealth Management (Canada) Ltd. and its major subsidiaries in November 2009.

Prior to his appointment as President and Chief Executive Officer, he held the roles of President and Chief Operating Officer from 2005 to 2009 and Senior Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer for Assante from 2003 to 2005.

Before joining Assante Wealth Management (Canada) Ltd. in November 2003, Steven was Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer of Synergy Asset Management (Synergy), from the time of its inception in 1998.

Synergy quickly became known as one of Canada's most innovative mutual fund companies and was acquired by CI Financial in October 2003.

Prior to Synergy, Steven was Vice-President of Finance at SHL Systemhouse Co., acting as the senior financial executive supporting two global business units representing sales and consulting, as well as outsourcing operations. He went to Systemhouse from Ernst & Young LLP, where he worked in the financial services group providing audit and consulting services.

Steven Donald is a Chartered Accountant and has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of British Columbia.
